The Publick House - Brookline, MA

This has to be one of the coolest, coziest, most delicious bars I have ever been to in my entire life. I'm sure if you've ever read this blog, you know my obsession with Deep Ellum. The Publick House ties Deep Ellum with my top favorite bar in Boston. The Publick House has it's own unique atmosphere and decor that you probably won't find in any other bar. And the beer menu...all I have to say is that if you go to The Publick House and do not order beer...well sad for you, because The Publick House pretty much defines the term "beer bar."

My roommate and I had been planning to head to The Publick House for the past month but kept on forgetting. Last night (Monday) we both got home around the same time and decided there was no time like the present and made our way over. We got there and had to wait about 35-40 minutes for a table, which was okay because we got a seat at the bar and tried some delicious brews (if you go soon you might be able to try the Six Point Sweet Action). Now this was a Monday around 8:15pm, so keep in mind that if you plan on coming for a meal you are probably going to be waiting. I had been once before and it was equally as busy.

So after some brews at the bar we got seated at our table and we each had these King of England, monastery-like, intense chairs. "King of the Castle, King of the Castle!" It was a highlight. I had the fish and chips, and they were real good. So not only does The Publick House have a great beer selection and atmosphere, they got some damn good food too! - on a side note, I had the Mac n' Cheese last time and that was also amazing.

One thing I really like about The Publick House is how they break down their beer menu and the attention to detail they put into it...for both draughts and bottles they break the beer down by type (blonde ale, pale ale, Belgium, etc.) or by "here" or "there." "Here" are, as you might guess, domestics and "there" is anything from Europe. Each category of beer also has a quick description, just to let people know what they should expect. If you haven't gone to The Publick House and love beer, PLEASE go...and request to sit in the King seats.
