For some reason it bothers me when restaurants' name leads you to believe they are something when they are not (see:Brighton Beer Garden). So when I was on my way down to the British Beer Company, I was a little hesitant the name would be fully backed up. But alas, it was good ol' Feldo's birthday and the trip down to Pembroke would ultimately be worth it.
My friend and I were greeted by some 'pleasant' hostesses and when told the rest of the party wasn't there yet, we were shown in the direction of the bar. And what would we find sitting in the very front? Not one, not two, but three cask-conditioned taps, all Fuller's - London Porter, London Pride, and ESB. Well played BBC. To top that, they also had a good selection of smaller breweries (Wachusett, Shipyard, Dogfish Head), the usual domestics/imports, as well as some other British beers you don't typically see on draught.
The food menu at the BBC also shows its British roots, with the traditional Fish and Chips, as well as some Pasties (I was eyeing the Curry one). We had a selection apps and pizza, which I think was called The Fenway; peppers, onions, and sausage...damn good.
The only bad thing about the British Beer Company is that there aren't any in downtown Boston, and the closest is still a fair drive away. The other BBC locations besides the Pembroke one we went to include:
- Cedarville
- Falmouth
- Framingham
- Hyannis
- Plymouth
- Sandwich
- Walpole
From the looks of it, these other locations have different cask beers, so I will definitely be trying to head to one.
